Filed under: analytics — Kaushik @ 3:39 pm

The latest addition to my master lists is a compilation of market data sources for Indian stocks, futures & options (F&O) - this includes end of day (EOD) data, intraday data, etc. Note that most of these are not free. Also, let me be clear that this post does not seek to endorse any of these products; it’s simply a list of potential sources of market data.

As you can see, this list is by no means complete and I am sure there are other sources that I don’t know of. Consider it ‘work in progress’ and do help me out!

PS: There are several other ‘informal’ sources of such data - check out the forums at Traderji.com, Yahoo Groups, etc. But in general, you will find that “you get what you pay for” :-)

PPS: It seems that data providers come and go; I came across several names that seem to be defunct: Chartistscafe.net, Soubhagya.biz, Nexus, etc.

Do your due diligence before signing up with one of these, and of course - buyer beware!

Master list of stock screens for Indian markets

Filed under: analytics — Kaushik @ 11:57 am

Along the lines of my previous post - Master list of charting tools & sites for Indian stock market - here is another master list; this one is about free online stock screens for India.

Note that most of these are ‘canned’ lists of stocks, i.e. they do not allow the user to choose the screening criteria from a menu.

  • Moneycontrol.com Market Statistics
    • Screens: Top gainers/losers, most active, bulk deals, price/volume spurts, fundamentals (ratios, revenue/profit growth, . . .), index/sector composition, moving average breakouts / reversals, etc.
  • DLN Group Stock Screeners
    • Screens: At/near 52-week highs/lows, moving average breakouts / reversals, indicator volume gainers/losers, up/down streaks, etc.
  • BuzzingStocks.com Stock Search/Screener
    • Screens: 52-week high/low, moving average breakouts / reversals, MACD crossovers, etc.
  • Equitymaster.com Advanced Stock Screener
    • Screens: Fundamentals (sales, profits, taxes, etc.) by sector
  • IDBI Paisabuilder Custom Stock Screener
    • Screens: Price history, Analyst estimates, fundamentals (revenue/profit growth, EPS, ratios, . . .), institutional holdings, etc.

Not a very long list - hope you can help me find more resources!

Master list of charting tools & sites for Indian stock market

Filed under: analytics — Kaushik @ 4:08 pm

I’ve previously pointed out my collection of “live” charts, accessible via the header on all GalaTime pages:

  • Sector charts
    • Live charts of stocks in these sectors: Banks, Capital Goods, Energy, FMCG, IT, Media, Pharma, PSU

However, this is not sufficient if you want to conduct technical analysis on a specific stock, compare multiple stocks within a sector, compare a stock to an index, etc. Hence I have started this master list of free charting tools & websites for investors & traders in the Indian stock markets:

  • Yahoo Finance: US and India versions
    • Historical prices, delayed quotes and charts (with technical analysis) for most Indian stocks & major indices.
  • Wealth-Lab DynaCharts
    • Charts (with technical analysis) for most Indian stocks & major indices; uses the same stock symbols as Yahoo Finance.
  • Stockcharts.com
    • BSE Sensex-30 index chart with technical analysis.
    • An excellent Chart School: Everything you ever wanted to know about technical analysis.
  • iCharts.in
    • Charts (with technical analysis) for Indian stocks & major indices.
    • NSE Advance/Decline chart.
    • End of day charting service.
  • Sify Finance (Walletwatch)
    • Charts (with technical analysis) for Indian stocks & major indices.
    • Allows relative strength comparison for stocks/indices.
  • Myiris.com
    • Charts for Indian stocks & major indices.
  • Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)
    • Java Charts (with technical analysis) for Indian stocks & major indices.
    • Allows relative strength comparison for stocks/indices.

I would like to make the list as comprehensive as possible - please point me to resources that I’ve missed out. Thanks!
